If you’re a parent, it’s probably important to you to be a good role model for your kids. It’s natural to want your children to have a better life than you’ve had – and to set them up with the right skills to ensure that they do.
And if you don’t have kids, it’s still probable that there are young people in your life who look up to you and are eager to follow your example. And that’s what I want to talk about today.
You already know that getting regular workouts is a must if you want to be healthy. But we live in a world where we’re encouraged to be sedentary. Kids sit in school all day, and as adults, we sit at work. Even when we get home, we spend a lot of our time sitting in front of our phones, tablets, computers, and televisions.
The problem is that when kids don’t learn the exercise habit early, they often don’t learn it at all. That’s something that can affect them as kids and for the rest of their lives.
But… when your kids see you heading to Level Up for a martial arts class, they see you setting a healthy example. They know that you value fitness and health and they’ll want to emulate your behavior.
In fact, we’ve sometimes seen parents who signed up for a martial arts class because their child was reluctant to take a class. They knew that if they studied martial arts, their children would be more likely to embrace the idea of working out regularly.
